How to Make this Easy Fudge Recipe
Each Christmas, I make multiple batches of Fantasy Fudge using simple ingredients like marshmallow cream and chocolate chips—it’s almost foolproof! During the bustling holiday season, an easy fudge recipe is a lifesaver, especially when it’s so creamy and delightful!
This year, I decided to get creative with a red velvet fudge recipe, incorporating red food coloring, semi-sweet and white chocolate for the red fudge, and pure white chocolate for the white fudge. A swirl of these mixtures creates the perfect festive touch!
Using my candy thermometer, I began the process that comes effortlessly to me. I recommend cooking the sugar syrup mixture until it reaches 234ºF; although the back of the marshmallow cream jar suggests boiling for 5 minutes, using a thermometer ensures that you’ve cooked it to the proper soft-ball stage.
The results were spectacular! Even my husband, who isn’t a fan of red velvet, couldn’t resist a taste as I cut the squares. His reaction was one of delight, which I’m sure my neighbors will echo when they try this sweet treat. Make sure to add this red velvet fudge recipe to your holiday plans!

Helpful Tools:
Ingredients
- 3 cups sugar
- ¾ cup butter
- ⅔ cup half & half or evaporated milk
- 1 12-ounce bag white chocolate chips
- 1 7-ounce jar marshmallow cream (Kraft recommended)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 3 tablespoons red food coloring
Instructions
- Line a 9 x 9-inch pan with non-stick foil and set it aside.
- Combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips and food coloring in a heat-safe bowl and set aside.
- In a large, heavy saucepan, mix together the sugar, butter, and half & half.
- Cook the mixture to 234ºF, stirring occasionally.
- Once the desired temperature is reached, remove from heat, and immediately add the white chocolate chips, marshmallow cream, and vanilla. Stir until well combined.
- When the mixture is smooth, scrape half of the white chocolate fudge into the bowl with the semi-sweet chocolate chips, mixing until everything is melted and smooth.
- Using two medium cookie scoops or tablespoons, alternate dropping scoops of red and white fudge into the prepared pan.
- Drop the pan from a few inches above the counter to release any air pockets. Use a knife to gently swirl through the fudge, creating a marbled appearance.
- Allow it to cool at room temperature. Once cooled, lift the fudge out of the pan using the foil and cut it into squares.
FAQ
- Can I substitute the white chocolate chips with something else?
- Yes! You can use vanilla-flavored candy melts or a different type of chocolate, but it may change the flavor profile.
- How do I store the fudge?
- Store the fudge in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks. You can also refrigerate it for longer shelf life.
- Is this fudge suitable for freezing?
- Absolutely! Wrap the fudge tightly in plastic wrap and then in foil. It can be frozen for up to three months. Just thaw at room temperature when you’re ready to enjoy it.
- What if my fudge doesn’t set properly?
- If your fudge seems too soft, it likely didn’t reach the correct temperature. You can reheat the fudge gently and attempt to reach the soft-ball stage again.
- Can I add nuts or other mix-ins to this recipe?
- Certainly! Feel free to fold in your favorite nuts, crushed cookies, or even dried fruit to give your fudge an extra dimension!
